Green Initiatives

Sustaining Planet Earth

Even from the early days when it wasn’t fashionable to be green, HEASLEY&PARTNERS was an environmentally conscious company. In 1994, our very first letterhead was on recycled paper and before there were curbside recycling programs, we were collecting paper, bottles and cans and saving them from the landfill.  In the very early days, principals, Mike and Kathy Heasley used to collect aluminum cans for their local church while walking their dogs near home building sites.  They collected bags full which kept the neighborhood litter-free, and along with the cans other families collected, funded a new children’s play area  made of recycled plastic bottles.  It was an easy thing to do, and it made a lasting difference.

“We’ve always been environmentally aware and active. I grew up just 12 miles away from 3-Mile Island in a very beautiful part of Pennsylvania. Rolling hills covered in trees, streams, and the tranquil Susquehanna River were my world.  In 1979, when I was still in high school, the nuclear “incident” happened. It was terrifying. During those tense days, I learned how fragile the earth really is and how quickly the environment we take for granted can be completely destroyed by us. It changed my life.”  -Kathy Heasley

HEASLEY&PARTNERS is all about environmental awareness, operations and sustainable living. Some of our green initiatives include driving hybrid vehicles, recycling everything we can, providing organic and locally-grown foods and snacks at the office along with coffees grown through free trade and sustainable practices. Even the cleaning supplies at our office are earth-friendly and bio-degradable. We use recycled papers (when we use paper), but we’re virtually paperless. Printer ink cartridges are recycled and nearly all communications are electronic. We mail almost nothing, even our invoicing is electronic. And we highly discourage our clients from any direct mail or paper-intensive communication methods. It’s just not socially acceptable anymore, nor is it necessary in many cases.

The Earth is our home and that means we must take care of it. We’re not afraid to be green and the people who know us love us for our commitment to Earth and all her creatures.  The way we see it, we’re just passing through. We should leave behind, good will, good moments and very little else.
